LaMae's dance journey began at an early age, training in a wide range of styles including ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip hop, and martial arts. By age 10, she was already competing and earned the distinguished title of Teen Miss Dance for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter, encompassing D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. As a soloist with the P.M. Dance Company under Fran Peters’ studio, LaMae was recognized as a Top 20 Finalist at Nationals and secured multiple 1st place overall scores in both junior and senior division group performances.
Her extensive training and success in dance competitions laid the foundation for her transition into the professional dance industry. LaMae’s comprehensive understanding of dance studio environments, programming, and the intricacies of competitive dance has equipped her with valuable insights and skills.
With a strong background in administration and a reputation for being organized, stylish, and punctual, LaMae is a dedicated professional. She thrives on working with individuals of all levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals, and even those who consider themselves non-dancers. She believes that everyone has an inner dancer waiting to be discovered, and she finds great joy in guiding others to unlock their creative potential. LaMae’s teaching is characterized by her energy, passion, and commitment to fostering growth and confidence through dance.
She has coached and choreographed for a diverse range of students, from children as young as 6 to adult performers, both amateur and professional. LaMae specializes in teaching Fosse, Jazz Funk, Contemporary, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Movement Meditation, bringing a vibrant and empowering approach to each class and coaching session.
